NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME (NDIS)
NDIS is a new national scheme being rolled out across the disability sector. If eligible, your child will receive funding on an annual basis to buy the services and aids your child needs to achieve your goals and achieve optimal independence.
The NDIS is now available in the Bayside Peninsula Region. The roll out date was from 1st April, 2018. Right now we are in a one month transition stage for HCWA and Better Start programs. This means that from after 1st May, 2018 new registrations to these programs will be closed and families with newly diagnosed children will need to contact their local Early Childhood Partner.
Brotherhood of St Laurence is now the Early Childhood Partner for the Bayside Peninsula Region.
See this link HERE to find out more information.
If you have not yet been contacted by the NDIS you may like to call the NDIA at 1800 800 110 to find out why and inquire about an Access Request form. Alternatively, you may choose to make contact with Brotherhood of St Laurence and Self-Refer.
For families who are receiving HCWA funding and may not be eligible to roll over into an NDIS plan, you will still be able to use your remaining HCWA funds. This is because the NDIA is focused on 'continuity of service'. For more information on Frequently Asked Questions about the transition to the NDIS, see this link HERE.
